Loan of documents

The loans service at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya allows students, teachers and external institutions with a connection to music to borrow documents from the Library for a certain period of time,  following the Regulations of the ESMUC Library Loans Service approved by the ESMUC Board of Directors.

Library Loan services hours

The loans service is available:
> Monday and Tuesday from 10 am to 6 pm
> Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 am to 7 pm.

This schedule may vary during Christmas, Easter or summer holidays

Two lending options:

  • Self-lending machine: A machine located inside the Library, next to the loan counter, which is used to loan or renew a document yourself, speeding up the service.

  • Library counter: Located at the Library entrance and available during all Library opening hours.

Who can borrow documents on loan?

  • ESMUC students, teachers and Administration and Service Staff.

  • Alumni and external individuals or institutions that have some connection to the School or music can request a Library card, submitting this document once completed, signed, and stamped at the Library, in order to use the loan service.

    The fees for an external user Library card can be found in the rates section of the ESMUC website.

How many documents can be borrowed at a time? And for how many days?

  • Students: 6 documents for a maximum period of 15 days.

  • Teachers: 10 documents for a maximum period of 30 days.

  • Alumni and authorised external individuals and institutions: 6 documents for a maximum period of 15 days.

Reservations and renewals of documents

Up to 6 simultaneous reservations can be made for documents that are on loan. The documents will be reserved for the user for a period of 5 days.

Documents can be renewed 2 times, as long as no other user has reserved them, starting from 4 days before their due date.

There are 6 possible ways to do this:

  • Online form

  • Whatsapp: (+34) 677.26.00.73 Monday to Friday, 10am to 7:30pm.

  • Information desk: you can approach the Library information desk during our customer service hours, Monday through Friday from 10am to 7:30pm.

  • From the catalogue: With a previous authentication through the My account section.

  • Self-lending machine: You have the option to renew documents on loan up to two times without having to bring them in at the machine located between the counter and the computers.
