Itinerary of Simultaneity in Music and Primary Education

Música i Educació Primària

The Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) and the Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) offer a double degree in Primary Education and Higher Artistic Education in Music. This double degree will enable students to develop their interpretative and pedagogical skills.

The offer includes the speciality of classical and contemporary music performance, within the modalities of the brass quintet: trumpet, horn, trombone and tuba.

The Bachelor’s Degree in Primary Education and the Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Education in Music have the favourable accreditation of the AQU Catalunya. The Bachelor’s Degree in Higher Artistic Education of Music is equivalent to a university degree for all purposes.

To whom it is addressed

The double degree is aimed at students with an interest in developing their professional career in primary education and music. The aim is to train people with diversified, interdisciplinary skills who are capable of facing the challenges of today’s educational and interpretative world and to root them in Terres de l’Ebre.

Access requirements

To access these studies, applicants will have to pass the entrance exam for the speciality of Classical and Contemporary Music Performance of the Degree in Higher Artistic Education at the ESMUC and the university entrance exams (PAU), together with the personal aptitude tests (PAP), to access the Degree in Primary Education at the Universitat Rovira i Virgili.


A total of 10 places are offered per course: 4 trumpet, 2 horn, 2 trombone and 2 tuba.

Organisation

The double degree takes 10 semesters (five academic years) and starts in September. It will take place at the URV in Tortosa, the Conservatori Professional de Música de Tortosa (where the music subjects are taught) and the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (for orchestral and large ensemble subjects, one day a week). In order for credits to be recognised as part of the simultaneous pathway, students must be enrolled at both URV and ESMUC.
