MuPIC Research Group – Music, Performance, Identities and Body

Within the MuPiC research group, complementary disciplinary perspectives converge around the central axes that structure its activity: Music and Performance, Live Performance, Musical and Audiovisual Creation, Critical Pedagogy and Musicology, Archival and Library Sciences, and Critical Theory. Each member contributes, from their own academic experience, with conceptual and methodological tools to investigate the intersections between music, embodiment, live performance and identities. Some of MuPiC’s main objectives are: to produce high-quality knowledge about music, performance and embodiment through ethnographic and practical artistic research, employing mixed methods of data collection and taking into account human diversity in all its dimensions; critically examine the relationship between the body, music and sexuality in different musical performance formats and audiovisual culture; and analyse music in the interdisciplinary field, developing a new technical paradigm for musical performance.
