A gathering with a history

This year the Jornades ab sentits reach their ninth edition, firmly established as a meeting point — both internal and external, national and international — for thinking about and sharing the experience of music from diverse perspectives. Over its eight previous editions, the conference has steadily become a point of reference for performers, educators and scholars wishing to discuss music beyond the usual boundaries between disciplines and institutions.

The involvement of the Museu de la Música de Barcelona as a co-organising institution has, in recent editions, been one of the project’s great successes: the Keyboard Hall, with its splendid acoustics, has proved to be a uniquely inspiring space for the sessions. This journey has brought remarkable qualitative success — not least in the open, rigorous tone of the discussions it fosters — which we now wish to consolidate and grow further in scope and participation.

In this ninth edition, the conference welcomes a new institutional partner, the Department of Pedagogy, whose involvement naturally broadens the scope of discussion to pedagogical questions that were, in fact, already present. This expansion strengthens the Jornades both institutionally and thematically, and is reflected this year in the conference theme.
