Education

In 1998, she was accepted and awarded a scholarship by the New England Conservatory of Boston, where she graduated with Honors from the Brass and Wind departments, specialising in solo and chamber performance.

She studied with Charles Schlueter (soloist of the Boston Symphony Orchestra) and John McNeil (jazz). During her time in the United States, she was part of the New World Symphony.

Concerts

Later, she performed as a soloist with Solisti Veneti at the Palau de la Música as part of the Ibercamara season, as well as with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona. From October 2001 to June 2003, she was the principal trumpet of the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, and she regularly collaborated with the Orquestra del Teatre Lliure; currently she does so with BCN216.

Awards

 



She began as a soloist in 1996 at the Ciutat de Manresa Awards and continued with the Orquestra de Cambra de Lleida, the Orquesta Ciudad de Granada, the Orquestra de Cambra de Vic, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona, the Real Filharmonía Orchestra of Galicia, the Prague Symphony Orchestra at the Torroella de Montgrí Festival, the Pau Casals Festival in Prades de Conflent, the Andorra Orchestra, and the Terrassa Orchestra.








  • She has received the Young Award, granted by the Jove Cambra Internacional de Catalunya.




  • She has received the TOYP award in the category of cultural achievements.




Career

She forms a stable duo with pianist Mercè Hervada, with whom she has recorded the album "Temperaments" under Seed Music.

She has been invited to perform as a soloist at national and international festivals and orchestras, such as the Peralada Festival or the Grafenegg Festival, as well as the Prague Symphony Orchestra, and the Salvador de Bahia Symphony Orchestra. She has performed with soloists such as Martha Argerich and Yuja Wang, among others. She has toured Spain with the National Philharmonic Orchestra of Hungary conducted by János Kovács.

Teaching

In addition to teaching at ESMUC and conducting masterclasses, Mireia Farrés collaborates as a teacher in young orchestras such as JONC and JONDE; she also conducts masterclasses and serves as a jury member in various competitions, such as the ARD in Munich.
