Absences and meanings in the 6th edition of Jornades ab Sentits

The Greek pianist and musicologist George-Julius Papadopoulos, invited to the previous conference, gave a lecture on humor in classical music.

On March 14, 15 and 16, 2024, ESMUC will host the sixth edition of the Jornades ab Sentits. On this occasion, the theme of the papers will be Absences and Meanings.

For this new 2024 Conference we have invited Małgorzata Pawłowska, an expert in musical narrative from the University of Krakow. We will also have commented recitals and the participation of the maestro Antoni Ros-Marbà, who will share his most recent projects with the audience. However, as every year, the preferred format will be that of communication.

  • The call is open to students, teachers, the alumni community, and also to people outside the School.

  • You can submit 20-minute communication proposals (plus 10 min. of comments and questions) that have some relation to music as a message or to music with senses. Also short commented reProposals must be sent, in word format, to the email jornadesabsentits@esmuc.cat before February 12, 2024.citals of 30 minutes.

  • The proposal must contain an abstract of approximately 500 words, five keywords, and a brief curriculum vitae of up to 150 words. In addition to Catalan and Spanish, the School and the Conferences want to promote the presence of English.

  • Proposals must be sent, in word format, to the email jornadesabsentits@esmuc.cat before February 12, 2024.

  • The scientific committee will choose among all proposals, and will notify the interested person of its decision.

The conference will be streamed on ESMUC’s YouTube channel.

The ab Sentits Conference is organized by professors Rolf Bäcker, Joan Grimalt and Marc Heilbron.
