The Jornades Arts i Salut provides a space for meeting, reflection and exchange around the relationships between the arts, health and people’s well-being. Organised by the Department of Education and Artistic Mediation at ESMUC, the Conference brings together professionals and specialists from the artistic, educational, healthcare and social sectors with the aim of fostering dialogue between knowledge, research, professional practice and experience.
With music as one of its main connecting threads, the Conference explores the many ways in which artistic practices can contribute to people’s physical, emotional, mental and social health. Music therapy, neurology, psychology, education, artistic practice and community action are among the fields that come together from an interdisciplinary perspective.
The Conference has a close connection with ESMUC’s Master’s Degree in Music Therapy, both through its origins and through the participation of faculty members, students and professionals linked to this field. This relationship helps connect specialised education, research and professional practice, making the Conference a space for knowledge transfer and exchange between the academic community and the different contexts in which music and the arts can become tools for health, care and well-being.
The Conference also focuses on the health and well-being of arts professionals themselves, addressing the physical, psychological and emotional needs that may arise from artistic and musical practice. This dual perspective, the arts as a tool for health and the health of those who practise them, makes it possible to approach the relationship between art and well-being from complementary perspectives.
Through lectures, workshops, experience-sharing sessions, project presentations, experiential activities and discussion spaces, the Conference encourages exchange between research and practice and gives visibility to experiences developed in clinical, educational, artistic, social and community settings.
Each edition proposes a specific thematic focus that enables participants to explore new areas of study and application in greater depth and to continue examining the potential of the arts throughout all stages of life. In this way, the Conference seeks to contribute to generating knowledge, building bridges between disciplines and fostering new perspectives on the role of the arts in healthcare, education, social and community contexts.
Since its inception, the Jornades Arts i Salut has become an established space for sharing knowledge and experiences and for continuing to explore how the arts can contribute to caring, connecting, expressing and transforming, approaching people’s well-being from a holistic and community-based perspective.
