Miguel Angel Cano

Education

He holds a Doctorate in Critical Pedagogy from IMPC-Mexico with honours, with a thesis on the professional development of musicians in Nicaragua. He also holds a Master's degree in Organisation and Management of Arts Education Centres from UAB-ESMUC, a Master's degree in Higher Education Teacher Training in Educational and Research Competencies from UNED, and an Official Master's degree in Performing Arts from URJC.

He completed a Postdoctoral Specialization in Applied Research for Educational Project Design at IMPC-Mexico, and obtained expert qualifications in Qualitative Research from UNED, Educational Technology from UTN BA, Active Methodologies 2.0 from UPO, Higher University Specialist in Educational Computing from UNED, and Cooperation for Development from UNIA. Additionally, he holds a Bachelor's degree in Theology with an emphasis on Sacred Music from SCS-USA, and a Teaching Diploma with a specialisation in Music Education from UCA.

Career

Currently, he works as the director of MACCO, a consultancy and higher education training firm that collaborates with universities and educational institutions in Spain, Colombia, Mexico, Ecuador, USA, and Central America.

Previously, he served as the international academic director for Institut Canzion, developing syllabus designs, teacher training, and educational quality assessments for 50 music schools in 15 Latin American countries.

Teaching


  • Since 2021, he has been the coordinator of the Online Master’s Degree in Music Education for musicians at ESMUC.

  • Since 2013, he has been a professor in the Online Master’s Degree in Music Education for musicians at ESMUC.

  • Since 2018, he has been an associate professor and advisor in the Doctorate in Educational Innovation at CESUN (Mexico).

  • Since 2017, he has been the coordinator of Postgraduate programs in Music Education and Technology for UML (Nicaragua) and the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID) in Central America.
