María Jesús Castro
Education

She holds a Ph.D. in Ethnomusicology (2010) from the Universitat de Barcelona with a thesis title "La rumba catalana y el flamenco como marcadores culturales de los Kalós catalanes de Barcelona",under the supervision of Josep Martí and Xosè Aviñoa. She graduated in History and Science of Music (2015) from the University of La Rioja and holds a Bachelor's degree in Cultural Anthropology (1993) from UB.

Career

She is a member of various musicological societies, including the Sociedad de Etnomusicología (SIBE) and the Ethnomusicology Working Group of the ICA.

Teaching

Since 2019, she has been a visiting professor in the Master's program in Flamencology at ESMUC, as well as a director of Final Master's projects. Since 1997, she has been a professor of flamenco guitar in the Conservatory of Liceu.
