Education



Josep Margarit Dalmau holds a Bachelor’s degree in music. He also has undergone studies in flute, piano, violin, and composition.




In 2001, he obtained a DEA (Diploma of Advanced Studies) in the doctoral program "Cognitive Science and Language " from the universities of Barcelona, Autònoma de Barcelona, Pompeu Fabra, and Rovira i Virgili (Tarragona), under the supervision of Dr. Manuel García-Carpintero. Currently, he is working on his doctoral thesis under the guidance of Professor García-Carpintero, focusing on the concept of the Musical Object.

Research

Recently, he has participated in the following conferences:


  • Seminar on Harmony and Music Analysis (HARMA), Brussels, April 2018.

  • Música Analítica 2019, Oporto International Symposium on the Analysis and Theory of Music, Oporto, March 2019.


He is a founding member of the Association for Theory and Musical Analysis (ATAM).

Teaching

Since the academic year 2002-2003, he has been a professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC), where he teaches Analysis and Composition Applied to Music Education. He served as Head of Studies from 2008 to 2017.
