Joan Monné

Education

He studied at the Municipal Conservatory of Music of Barcelona. At the same time, he graduated with a Degree in Jazz Music from INCANOP (Taller de Músics). Subsequently, he obtained a Superior Degree in Jazz and Modern Music Interpretation from ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya). He has received masterclasses and attended international seminars and courses with renowned teachers such as Tete Montoliu, Brad Mehldau, Dave Liebman, Mulgrew Miller, or Kurt Rosenwinkel.

Concerts

He has performed with countless jazz formations and prominent musicians from the national jazz scene, and has accompanied international artists such as Benny Golson, James Moody, Dick Oatts, Jean Toussaint, Peter King, Bill McHenry, Joe Magnarelli, Jesse Davis, Scott Hamilton, Harry Allen, Grant Stewart, or Peter Bernstein, at festivals, clubs, and auditoriums worldwide.

  • Finalist in the group competition at the Getxo Jazz Festival with the Joan Monné Quartet (1993).

  • Finalist in the SGAE Jazzautor Composition Contest with the piece “La cara oculta (Perquè no?)” (1993).

  • AMJC Award for CD of the year with “Són Song”, by Joan Monné Trio (1995).

  • "Sense Fronteres" program award from Ràdio 4 for Catalan Album of the Year with "Introducing" by Carme Canela (1996).
