Marigó is an artist in constant evolution and growth. He has been part of projects in experimental, classical, jazz, funky, and traditional Catalan music, as well as theatre and dance, without ever losing his essence as a performer, creator, and improviser.

He has been a resident musician creator at La Pedrera (2016), L’Atlàntida in Vic (2020), and at the Zamus Zentrum für Alte Musik Köln in Cologne, Germany (2021).

Education

Carles Marigó is a musician trained as a classical pianist at ESMUC in Barcelona (with Vladislav Bronevetsky) and at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow (with Irina Plotnikova). He has developed his skills as an improviser guided by Xavier Dotras, Albert Bover, Emilio Molina, Juan de la Rubia, Michael Pisaro, James Fei, and Evan Parker.

He furthered his education thanks to grants from CEP, CoNCA, and AIE; and supported by national and international awards obtained as a pianist and composer during his training (such as Eugenia Verdet, Ciutat de Manresa, Ricard Viñes, among others). He has received advice from maestros such as Nelson Goerner, Elsa Púppulo, Elisabeth Leonskaja, Barry Douglas, Christian Sacharias, Paul Badura-Skoda, Jacques Rouvier, or María Jesús Crespo, among others. Most of these classes were organised and funded by the CEP scholarship (Center for Pianistic Studies).

Recordings

Among his numerous recordings, notable ones include: "Moments" (Seed Music 2017), featuring solo piano music by Schubert and Rakhmaninov, "Embrujo" (2019), with the first recorded complete works for solo piano by Enrique Escuder Cofiner, "Les set fulles del faig" (Seed Music 2019), a duo with pianist Marco Mezquida, "Papa" (2020) with drummer Marc Bódalo, "Keep my cows" (2021) featuring vihuela and guitar music from the 16th-17th centuries with guitarist Maria Camahort, and "Not just Bach, though..." (2021), a live solo piano concert recorded in July 2020 at the Palau de la Música Catalana concert hall.

Awards

In 2020, the magazine Núvol awarded him the Castafiore Critic's Award for his artistic contribution, and he also won the SOS Cultura scholarship from the Carulla Foundation, which allowed him to create and develop, alongside actor and dancer Jaume Sangrà, the show #BombollaSegura.
