Education

Assumpta Mateu studied at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and the Hochschule in Karlsruhe, learning from sensitive individuals and, above all, from many hours of dialogue with sound and silence. Among her teachers, Mitsuko Shirai and Hartmut Höll stand out.

Concerts

She has performed in the main concert halls and theatres in the country, as well as in Europe and America. She has sung opera and oratorio, but has always felt particularly at home with Lied and chamber music. She formed a duo with pianist Francisco Poyato.

She has been invited to sing with orchestras such as the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, the Simfònica del Liceu, the Sinfónica de Madrid, The Orquesta de Radio Televisión Española, the Orquesta de la Comunidad de Madrid, the Filarmónica of Bogotá, the Gulbenkian of Lisboa, the Kölner Rundfunk Orchester, the English Chamber Orchestra, Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla, Orquestra de Cadaqués, the Würtembergische Kammerorchester…

Recordings

Among her recordings, she likes to highlight the Complete Songs of Eduard Toldrà (with Lluís Vilamajó and Francisco Poyato) and the CD "Musicquor" (with Eulàlia Solé, Oriol Romaní, and Feliu Gasull).

Awards

She has won several international singing competitions, such as the one in Köln.

Teaching

Since its founding in 2001, she has been a professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, and she currently also is the Coordinator of the Master’s degree in Lied.

She gives masterclasses at various institutions, including the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe.

She also offers courses and workshops under the title "La veu de la vida", where breathing and voice are seen as tools of consciousness.
