Education

British pianist Alan Branch received his training at the Royal College of Music and the Guildhall School in London under the guidance of Yu Chun Yee, Joan Havill, Geoffrey Parsons, and Graham Johnson. He also pursued studies with Paul Schilhawsky at the Mozarteum in Salzburg, funded by the Austrian government.

Career

He made his debut as an accompanist for the BBC in 1978, and since 1985, he has focused on chamber music and vocal repertoire.

He has shared the stage with prestigious singers such as Victòria dels Àngels, Teresa Berganza, Benjamin Luxon, and Enriqueta Tarrés, as well as instrumentalists like Roël Dieltens, Peter Thiemann, Cristian Florea, with whom he recorded a CD of Schubert and Eckart's music; Magdalena Martínez, Claudi Arimany, and Ricardo Casero, with whom he has recorded two CDs. He has performed in Catalonia, various regions of Spain, France, Italy, Norway, Great Britain, Austria, and more.

He regularly collaborates with the Gran Teatre del Liceu in concerts at the Foyer, and as a musical assistant for conductors Bertrand de Billy, Pons, Edmon Colomer, Harry Bickett, and Sebastian Weigle.

He has conducted operas by Xavier Montsalvatge (Babel 46), Cole Porter (Kiss me Kate), and El Superbarber de Sevilla, a children's production of the Gran Teatre del Liceu.

Since 2003, he has been the director of the Female Chamber Choir Scherzo.

Teaching

He teaches at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (Barcelona). He has been a professor at Musikene (San Sebastián) and the Conservatori de Vila-seca. He holds a degree in Romance Philology from the University of Durham (England) and maintains a close relationship with the La Caixa Foundation, where he provides diction classes for singers.
