Prats Vicens

Education

He was the first flutist in Spain to enter the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris and obtain the First Prize unanimously in flute and chamber music. His teachers were Michel Debost, Jean Pierre Rampal, and Christian Lard.

Concerts

He has performed with top-level ensembles such as the Franz Listz Orchestra of Budapest, Orchestre de Paris, Solistes de Zagreb, Orchestre de chambre de Toulouse, Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse - of which he was Principal Flute for four years - Orquestra de Cambra del Empordà, The Guildhall Strings Ensemble, I Musici, etc.

Awards

He has been awarded prizes in international competitions in both Kobe (Japan) and Barcelona.

Career

He resides in Paris and has been the Principal Flutist of the prestigious Orchestre de Paris since 1991, allowing him to collaborate with conductors such as Georg Solti, C.M. Giulini, Pierre Boulez, Lorin Mazel, James Conlon - with whom he performed J. Ibert's concerto at Sala Pleyel- Kurt Sanderling, Wolfgang Sawallisch, Daniel Barenboim, Franz Brüggen, Christoph von Dohnányi, Seiji Ozawa, Bernard Haitink, E.P Salonen, Sakari Oramo, and others.

Teaching

In addition to his orchestral activities, Vicens Prats carries out extensive chamber music work (as a founder and member of several groups in Paris), and pedagogical activities (regularly invited to the United States, Japan, Korea, France, Portugal, Spain, Italy).

He is a member of the Superworld Orchestra (Japan). He is a professor at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya and a guest professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Murcia.
