Bachelor's degree in contemporary dance from the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona. In 1983, he completed his studies at the Mudra school, founded by Maurice Béjart, in Brussels. He also pursued specialised courses in various conscious techniques, including Seitai, Feldenkrais, and Alexander techniques, in Barcelona.
His main line of research focuses on the interdependence between emotion and movement.

As a dancer, he has been part of various companies including: Ballet Contemporani de Barcelona, Avelina Argüelles, MUDRA, Teatre Metropolità de Barcelona, Companyia de Dansa de l’Institut del Teatre, and Cos de Ball del Gran Teatre del Liceu.
He has written, premiered, and published several plays and has won poetry awards (Vicent Andrés Estellés, Flor Natural Jocs Florals de Barcelona, etc.). He choreographed and directed part of the opening ceremony of the 1992 Olympic Games and, on September 11, 2004, the Sardana of Peace at the Fórum de les Cultures.
Since 1988, he has been teaching body awareness techniques, movement, and physical theater workshops at the Escola Superior d’Art Dramàtic of the Institut del Teatre, as well as body awareness at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC).
Raimon Àvila has been a professor at ESMUC since 2001.
