Education


Josep Baucells i Colom was born in Vic and began his musical studies at the Music School of this city. He continued his education at the Conservatori Superior Municipal de Música de Barcelona, where he obtained degrees in piano and musical language, harmony, counterpoint, composition, and instrumentation.

Publications

As a composer in the field of choral music, he has published various children's cantatas, compositions for children, cantatas for choir and instruments, and songbooks for the publishers Dinsic and La mà de Guido. With the publishers Publicacions de l’Abadia de Montserrat and Dinsic, he has released several books for the learning of musical language at a medium-professional level.

Premiered Works


Among others, it is worth mentioning the premiere of eight children's cantatas, choral compositions for solo voices and voices with instruments; compositions for the organ; two symphonic-choral compositions, including "El cant del lloc" for the inauguration of the Teatre Atlàntida in Vic; and his latest premiere, a commissioned work for the Orquestra Camera Musicae: "Introducció, pas i dansa".

Teaching

He currently also is a professor at the Escola de Música de Vic and collaborates in choral conducting courses organized by the FCEC, conducting sessions on auditory perception.
