Education

He studied with Josep Colomer and Jaume Vilà (tenora), and Santiago Olcina and Jordi León (flabiol and tamborí).

Concerts

He has performed throughout Europe, in cities such as Saint Petersburg, Tagier, Caracas, and Bogotá, accompanied by piano, organ, carillon, cobla, Mediterranean fusion groups, chamber orchestras, and symphony orchestras.

In 1999, he premiered the first Concerto for Tenora and Orchestra in history, composed by Xavier Boliart, and conducted under Lawrence Foster with the OBC (3 days at the Auditori). In 2001, he repeated the performance with the O. S. del Vallès in Sabadell, Palau de la Música, and Vic, conducted by Salvador Brotons, with whom he also performed his Concert Catalanesc at the Auditori (2014) with the ESMUC Symphonic Orchestra.

In January 2014, he played Salvador Brotons' Concerto for Tenora and Orchestra at the Auditori, conducted by the composer himself.

In 2015, he premiered two concertante works for chamber orchestra and tenora by Joan Lluís Moraleda and Marcel Casellas with the Orquesta de Cámara del Garraf and the Terrassa 48.

In May 2019, he premiered Moisés Bertran's concerto for tenora and orchestra in Bogotá, conducted by Guerassim Boronkov.

Recordings

He has participated in about thirty recordings for Televisió de Catalunya, Catalunya Música, RNE, National Radio of France, and Belgium. He is the author of the album "Passió per la tenora" (2000) with pianist Jordi Vilaprinyó, featuring original works.

He has recorded over 50 albums, and has the disc "Passió per la tenora" with pianist Jordi Vilaprinyó featuring original pieces for tenora and piano.

Career

Jordi Figaró i Voltà is the tenora of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Cobla Mediterrània, Cobla Simfònica Catalana, and director of the Cobla Jovenívola de Sabadell.

He is the creator of the duo Instruments Catalans en Concert (1993).

He has been part of the cobla Jovenívola de Sabadell, Sant Jordi, La Principal del Llobregat, and Sabadell, as well as the Orquestra Galana and the group Une Anche Passe from Montpellier. Currently, he is the tenora of the Banda Municipal de Barcelona, Cobla Mediterrània, Cobla Simfònica Catalana, and director of the Cobla Jovenívola de Sabadell.

Teaching

He is a tenured professor of tenora and cobla at ESMUC. He is also a concert performer of tenora and flabiol, and a professor of these instruments at the Conservatori Municipal de Barcelona since 2001.

He is a professor of tenora, flabiol, and cobla at the Conservatori Municipal de Música de Barcelona since 1997.
