Interpreter of cello and guitar. He graduated and obtained master of musicology qualification from the University of Vienna.

He was the director of the Compañía Antonio Gades, and its president since its foundation. In the nineties, he was the director of the Deutsche Grammophon record label.

Author of numerous educational and scientific books on flamenco, Spanish music, and classical music.

Currently, he combines his roles as a record producer, researcher, teacher, and lecturer.

He is a professor at the Flamencology Department of the University of Cádiz, and at the Master's program from the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya until September 2017.

He has been a professor of flamenco at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Córdoba.

He has taught courses and seminars all over the world.
