Research committee

The Catalonia College of Music promotes research plans and participates in research projects related to its areas of musical knowledge and specialization: performance, composition, theory, history, education, culture, technology, and music management.

Since its founding, Esmuc has progressively incorporated research into its educational and artistic activities. Over the years, the faculty has participated in various research groups and projects, in collaboration with universities and other research centers. On March 2, 2021, the Board of Trustees of the Foundation for the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya approved an amendment to the statutes that includes research among the center’s objectives, definitively integrateing it into higher music education, both at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

In April 2026, the Steering Committee created the Research Commission to strengthen the culture of research among faculty membres and in the academic careers of undergraduate and master’s students, with the aim of raising the profile of the research carried out at the school, both by students and teachers and by the departments and the center itself. It is a permanent committee and meets every two weeks. It is chaired by the Head of Research, Quality, and Innovation.
