Education

With an impeccable musical education that includes six superior degrees and extensive experience in conducting, composition, performance, and teaching, Marcel Sabaté is one of the most relevant emerging directors in the current musical scene.

After obtaining a Bachelor’s degree in Orchestra Conducting with Honours and an Outstanding Graduation Award, he pursued postgraduate studies and took courses in conducting with top maestros. Particularly noteworthy are his 5 years at the Wiener Meisterkurse with Salvador Mas and Jörg Bierhance, where he achieved first prize and conducted the final concerts at the Wiener Konzerthaus with the Vidin State Philharmonic Orchestra, the Sinfonieorchester Kaposvár, and the Sinfonietta Baden.

Career

He was the founder and principal conductor of the GIOrquestra. He has conducted the Cobla Simfònica Catalana, and currently serves as the principal conductor of both the Cobla Sant Jordi-Ciutat de Barcelona and the Cobla Principal del Llobregat. Additionally, he is a professor at ESMUC and the Conservatori de Música Isaac Albéniz from the Diputació de Girona.
