Julia Gallego

Education

She studied flute at the "Óscar Esplá" Conservatory in Alicante, the "Conservatoire Héctor Berlioz" in Paris, and the "Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Danse de Paris (CNSM de Paris)" with professors Alain Marion, Raymond Guiot, Sophie Cherrier, and Vincent Lucas. Additionally, she furthered her education with professors Jaime Martín, M. Bourgue, P.L. Aimard, among others.

Concerts

She served as the main flutist of the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (1997-1999) and the Galicia Symphony Orchestra (2001-2002). Notable collaborations include performances with the Cadaqués Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Europe, HR Frankfurt, BR München, and Rotterdams Philharmonisch. Through these experiences, she has worked with renowned conductors such as C. Abbado, D. Harding, P. Boulez, M. Jansons, F. Brüggen, and S. Ozawa.

Apart from her orchestral activities, Júlia regularly performs as a soloist and chamber musician. Regarding chamber music, she has collaborated with musicians like Gordan Nikolic, R. Capuçon, D. Grimal, G. Caussé, H. Demarquette, F. Braley, R. Vlatkovic, Diemut Poppen, D. Quiggle, and Claudio Martínez Mehner, among others.

She regularly participates in International Chamber Music Festivals, including the recent "Charlottesville International Chamber Music Festival" in the United States. As a soloist, she has performed with the Tenerife Symphony Orchestra, Granada City Orchestra, Galicia Symphony Orchestra, Cadaqués Orchestra, Castilla y León Symphony Orchestra, the "bandArt" orchestra, and St. Georges Strings.

Júlia was a member of the JONDE (1992-1996) and the Gustav Mahler Youth Orchestra (1997-2001).

  • First Prize in the "Montserrat Alavedra" Competition with the Haizea Quintet in 1994.




  • "Premier Prix a l'unanimité du jury" at the CNSM de Paris in 1997.




  • First Prize and Audience Special Prize at the ARD Munich Competition with the Miró Ensemble quintet in 2001.



Career

Currently, Júlia balances her teaching duties with her roles as a member of the "Mahler Chamber Orchestra" (D. Harding) and the "Lucerne Festival Orchestra" (C. Abbado). She is also a co-founder and principal flutist of "bandArt" (G. Nikolic).

Teaching

She is a flute professor at ESMUC (Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya) and the "Conservatori Superior de Música del Liceu de Barcelona" since 2006.
