Jean Francois Dichamp

Education

After his studies in France, Jean-François quickly became one of the most brilliant students of Nikita Magaloff and Maria Curcio, a disciple of Schnabel, who provided him with a profound knowledge of the piano and broadened his musical horizons.

Recordings

His latest CD Goyescas, an opera for piano featuring the complete Suite by Granados and Sonatas by Scarlatti and Soler, received a Melómano de Oro award in the musical magazine "Melómano." The Revista Musical Catalana also praised this recording, stating: "Inescapably, 'Requiebros', the first page in the collection, transports us to Scarlatti's writing with its ornamental richness, which Dichamp outlines with detailed clarity and a profoundly romantic vision of the lyrical content, an aspect that he will maintain throughout his interpretation"..."aspects that Dichamp expresses with admirable timbral quality and detail".

Awards

The gathering of international awards soon flourished. Three awards at the International Competition of Santander (finalist prize, special "young talents" prize, and the "special Chopin" prize presented by Arthur Rubinstein's wife), marked the beginning of an international career. "A very sensitive artist," says Times, to which The Independent on Sunday echoes, "innate gifts for Chopin."

First prize unanimously awarded at the National Conservatory of Music in Paris in 1986.

Career

In 1982, a 12-year-old boy appeared on television playing Mozart as a child alongside Michel Bouquet in the anthology film by Marcel Bluwal, dedicated to the life of the composer of "The Marriage of Figaro."
