Specific competences:

PE1: Understand and explain the foundations of contemporary music pedagogy, both in terms of systematic knowledge and its application, and use them as a basis for critical reflection on one’s own and others’ musical educational practice.

PE6: Contextualise music pedagogy in the present time and in different cultural contexts, critically reflecting on the role and outcomes that music education practice can contribute to the improvement of individuals and society.

PE7: Know how to take advantage of training and specialisation opportunities offered by each workplace, incorporating them into the development of one’s own professional profile.

Learning outcomes (general objectives)

1. Observe and analyse situations and people from pedagogical and psychological perspectives, and demonstrate speed in decision-making processes that facilitate and redirect situations towards established objectives.

2. Develop teamwork strategies and an appreciation for discussion and consensus-based decision-making.

3. Demonstrate mastery of the most appropriate dynamics for teaching work, collaborative work and work with students.

Contents

Education as a human relationship. Person and personality. Communication. Group dynamics. Psychology of groups. Doctrine, manipulation and educational neutrality. Authority and freedom in the educational relationship. The philosophy of values. Values education. Resources and strategies for music teaching. Analysis of teaching situations. Application of techniques and resources for teamwork and for different teaching dynamics. Application of appropriate teaching dynamics for the pedagogy of habits, values and norms.

Teaching methodology

The teaching-learning methodology in classes includes lecture sessions (topic presentations), discussion and seminar sessions, group work sessions and student presentations of topics.
