Xavier Castillo

Education

He was born in Badalona, the city where he also began his musical studies with A. Carbonell.

He continued his education at the Conservatori Superior de Barcelona, where he obtained the higher degree certification in clarinet.

He combined his musical studies with university studies and earned a Teaching Diploma, specializing in Music, in 1996 at the Universitat de Barcelona.

He pursued further training with Josep Fuster and later completed a postgraduate course with Hans Deinzer in Italy (Bobbio).

He has received advice from clarinettists such as Michel Lethiec, J.L. Estellés, J.E. Luna, Michel Arrignon, and Wolfgang Meyer...

Recordings

He has participated in musical recordings for Catalunya Música, TV3, Canal 33, RNE Clásica, RAI, Radio Swiss Classic, and Deutschland Radio.

Awards

He has received awards with honours in elementary and professional degrees.

Career

Between 1993 and 1998, he was a member of the Jove Orquestra Simfònica de Catalunya.

He has collaborated, and continues to do so, with various chamber and symphonic groups, including the Grupo Instrumental Barcelona 216, the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya, the Orquestra del Gran Teatre del Liceu, the Orquestra del Teatre Lliure, and the Orquesta Nacional de España...

As a soloist, he has premiered several works, such as the Concerto for Clarinet and Band by Miquel Roger, presented at the Auditori de Barcelona with the Banda Municipal de Barcelona.

Teaching

On the pedagogical side, he has taught at the Conservatori Professional de Sabadell.

Currently, he is a clarinet professor at the Conservatori Professional de Badalona and the Escola Superior de Catalunya.
