Over the years, the faculty has participated in several research groups and projects, in collaboration with universities and other research centres. On the 2<sup>nd<\/sup> of March, 2021, the Board of Trustees of <em>the Fundaci\u00f3 per a l&#8217;Escola Superior de M\u00fasica de Catalunya<\/em> approved a modification of the statutes with which researching is now included as part of the school&#8217;s objectives, and is definitively integrated into higher musical education programmes, both undergraduate and postgraduate.<\/p><\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<section id=\"g-w00i5bi\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-m3 section-g-w00i5bi gutentor-module gutentor-container-cover d-none\"><div class=\"grid-container\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Artistic research at ESMUC<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:10px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>ESMUC has a large number of professors who hold PhDs or are in the process of obtaining one, which leads to the production of university-level academic research. For some years, strategies have been implemented to promote artistic research. Research models that aim to pose and answer questions about specific artistic problems:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"section-g7c361a\" class=\"wp-block-gutentor-e7 section-g7c361a gutentor-element gutentor-element-list\"><ul class=\"grid-row gutentor-grid-item-wrap list-indicator-icon\"><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-0\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">that can only be formulated and addressed in a higher artistic education centre such as the ESMUC<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-1\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">that only practicing musicians can deal with, and<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><li class=\"gutentor-list-item grid-lg-12 grid-md-12 grid-12\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-item gutentor-single-item-2\"><span class=\"gutentor-list-item-wrap g-s-list-wrap\"><span class=\"gutentor-single-list-item-icon\"><i class=\"list-item-icon fas fa-angle-right\"><\/i><\/span><span class=\"gutentor-list-item\"><p class=\"gutentor-single-item-title\">where instrumental and compositional practice plays a fundamental role, both in the formulation of questions, as well as in their development, reflection, experimentation, obtaining of answers and expression of the results.<\/p><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/li><\/ul><\/div>\n\n\n\n<p>ESMUC has played an significant role in the promotion of European artistic research in music, actively participating in the <em>Artistic Research in Higher Music Education<\/em> working group of the Xarxa Polifonia (<em>Erasmus Network for Music 2004-2014<\/em>) of the <em>Association Europ\u00e9enne des Conservatoires , Acad\u00e9mies de Musique et Musikhochschulen<\/em> (AEC). ESMUC also holds seminars, conferences and has published books and articles on this topic. Additionally, it promotes artistic research in final projects of its undergraduate and master\u2019s students, as well as among its teachers.
