As an element of great symbolic potential, music is present in scenarios of social conflict, where disputes over power and hegemony take place. Sometimes it becomes a powerful weapon in the hands of the dominant classes, and at others it is a symbol of resistance for alternative and dissident cultural forms. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The aim of the SIBE 2025 Conference is to encourage critical thinking and knowledge production concerning the role of ethnomusicology in the aforementioned contexts, while also addressing other topics of interest to the discipline. <\/p>\n\n\n
