Transparency
This section is for the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (ESMUC) to provide that information and data required by Law 19/2014 of the 29th of December, regarding transparency, access to public information and good governance, so that anyone can know the resources available to the School and their use.
ESMUC was created by a government agreement of the Generalitat de Catalunya on the 10th of October, 2000. In 2001, its management was entrusted to the Fundació Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya (DOGC 3530 of December 2001), and the school opened its doors by implementing the Higher Music Studies Plan, DECREE 63/2001, of the 20th of February.
In the 2010-2011 academic year, the new curriculum was launched within the framework of artistic education arrangement and its insertion in the European Space for Higher Education. The Higher Degree in music is regulated by the following legislation:ó:
Catalogue of Services
ESMUC is a public institution regarding higher music education attached to the Department of Education of the Generalitat de Catalunya, in accordance with the current legal framework regarding requirements, curricular organization and access system.
The main objectives of ESMUC are:
a) The organisation and teaching of higher music degree programmes.
b) The organisation and teaching of postgraduate and master’s degree programmes in regards to its areas of knowledge and specialisation.
c) The organisation of other courses and activities within its field of competence.
d) Research in the field of music and musical culture.
e) The development of proposals for the creation, modification or suppression of study and research plans.
Regarding teaching:
a) The organisation, development, and evaluation of teaching activities in its knowledge areas.
b) The coordination and supervision of the teaching activity of its departments, ensuring compliance with the programming and its quality.
c) Contribution to the improvement of the artistic and musical education system.
d) The promotion of ongoing training and musical awareness activities.
Regarding administration:
a) Responsible and efficient administration of its equipment, services, and resources.
b) Administrative management of the academic activity of students regarding the right to data privacy.
Regarding the educational community:
a) Comprehensive assistance to all students from their access to the end of their studies.
b) The promotion of mobility and exchange of students through cooperation programs of the European Union and other international agreements.
c) Collaboration in the integration of graduates in the labour market.
d) The promotion of permanent training and updating of teachers’ knowledge.
e) The promotion of effective integration of teaching and research staff into the international musical scientific community.
f) The encouragement of free association of any of the school’s bodies.
Regarding society:
a) Contribution to the dissemination of musical culture and Catalan musical creation.
b) Cooperation with public and private institutions, associations and foundations that concur with its objectives.
c) Facilitating the access to its studies and activities to anyone, regardless of their conditions, especially those belonging to the most vulnerable or disadvantaged segment.
All School programs, services and actions will take into account the following values and principles:
ESMUC is governed by the following bodies: the Foundation, general collegiate bodies, and other specific collegiate bodies.

The ESMUC Code of Ethics aims to prescribe the required behaviour of those linked in any way to the Foundation beyond mandatory legal provisions, the Statutes, the Regulations, or the current collective bargaining agreement.
