Surinyac, Josep


He was born in Torelló (Barcelona) where he began his musical studies with M. Serra.

He obtained the top title for Piano Chamber Music at the Conservatory of Barcelona with M.J.Crespo and A. Soler and later he completed extensive studies at the Guildhall School of Music in London with G. Johnson. He has been awarded in many national and international competitions for both Chamber Music and Lied.

His interest in vocal repertoire has led him to collaborate with singers such as: D. Hamlet, D. Alegret, N. Argenta, L. Dawson, J. Domenech, M. Llado,E.Martínez-Castignani, M. Martins, A. Mateu, M. Matheu, I. Moraleda, M.Ll.Muntada, R.Padullés, Palatchi S., R. Pierotti, A. Savall, C. Segura, P. Udland or Ll.Vilamajó, among others. As accompanist, he has performed in numerous Spanish cities as well as in France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, Israel, the United States and Japan.

His most recent discography includes two CDs with vocal music by Granados and M. Lluïsa Toldrá Muntada and "Winterreise" by Schubert with Castignani E.Martínez.

On several occasions has been invited to participate in the Vilabertran Schubertíada to accompany the performances of M. Martins, with notable success among audiences and critics.

He is currently the pianist for the " Cor de Noies del l’Orfeó Català " directed by B. Reixach and is Professor of Lied and Chamber Music at the Esmuc and the Superior Conservatory of the Liceo in Barcelona.

He has been invited several times by the Foundation "La Caixa" to accompany singing masterclasses such as Nancy Argenta or Lynn Dawson during the Historical Interpretation Courses which were held in numerous Spanish cities.
