In this section you can consult a list of frequently asked questions (FAQS) of interest to the entire educational community to the ESMUC in relation to the health alarm due to the coronavirus and how it has affected teaching, evaluation, evaluable final concerts, tests of access and the rest of services of the center.

Coronavirus situation

Can I access ESMUC?

The School will initially be closed for all purposes. The opening date will be marked taking into account the indications of the Health and Education departments of the Government of Catalonia. The reopening will be reported through the ESMUC website and social networks.

How does the School act in the face of the coronavirus situation?

All possible activity, teaching and administration and services, is being carried out online and with telework. Every day, the crisis monitoring team meets by videoconference to analyze the day-to-day, the different situations and make the necessary decisions. All the information in this situation is available on the School's website and on social networks.

 

What to do if I have coronavirus?

Students, teachers and administration and services staff: inform the School by email info.covid19@esmuc.cat.

  • If you have symptoms compatible with the virus and since when.
  • If you are in contact with people who can transmit the disease.
  • Contact 061 and the health authorities to receive information and know the protocols.

Student questions

                                          

Will be the entrance exams, what will be the procedure. Maybe they will be done online?

Given the exceptional situation that the school is experiencing, at this time we cannot give the precise information about the dates of the entrance exams for the course 2020-2021. We are making a precautionary approach, anticipating its implementation between June 25 and July 13, avoiding their coincidence with the University Entrance Exams (PAU). Please check the website and social networks periodically for specific dates to be determined once the current alarm status is raised.

The registration period for the tests will be confirmed soon.

If the period of confinement or massive mobility restrictions lasts in July, alternative online mechanisms will be enabled to guarantee the entrance tests.

                                        

Does ESMUC consider postponing evaluable presentations and final concerts?

The ESMUC follows the recommendations of the Health and Education departments of the Generalitat of Catalonia and will resume its activity in accordance with its directions.

If it is not possible to return to the classroom activity during this academic year, presentations or concerts may take place online, be postponed for the month of July or can be held in September. For those students who cannot adapt to these three options, the possibility of obtaining the corresponding credits with the apt / non-apt formula has been enabled on an exceptional basis.                                      

                                

How will the assessments be performed?

The faculty will inform students about whether online teaching has caused changes in the evaluation criteria for each subject and will adapt the assessment accordingly. The faculty will also take into consideration the characteristics and personal situation of each student.

If a subject in the following table cannot be taught or completed, the tutor will evaluate by taking into account the student’s grades on other subjects that develop the same competencies or by observations that the tutor has been able to make of these competencies.

Will students performing at the final concert in September be able to rehearse before in the school?

The School will follow the guidelines determined by the health authorities and, if possible, will try to open the facilities during the month of August in order to prepare for the concert.

 

Will the final concerts be open to the public?

The School will follow the guidelines determined by the health authorities in terms of capacity for activities open to the public when the final concerts are held.

 

The  Final Project delivery date is May 12th. Can this date be postponed?

The delivery date has been postponed until May 26. The project must be submitted via the Aulari to the subject  Final Project 19/20. It is not possible to delay the delivery date any further because the faculty members, who are on several committees, must have enough time to be able to read all the papers.

 

How will  Final Projects / Master’s Thesis defenses be held? In person or online?

The defenses of the  Final Project and Master’s Thesis will be held online, on the scheduled day and time. Instructions will soon be given about how to connect online for the defenses.

 

What is the new deadline for the delivery of the Master’s Thesis?

The new deadline for submitting the Master's Thesis is June 30. It must be delivered via the Aulari, to the subject Master's Thesis 2019-2020.                                   

                                                  

Can I meet with my roommates or combo to be able to rehearse in a place outside the School?

You cannot leave home or visit friends. According to the guidelines of the health authorities, it is necessary to stay at home and maintain online contact with other colleagues, family, friends and teachers.

                                                                        

I lack participation credits to complete the course and due to the closing of the School I cannot complete, what can I do?

What about concerts and external activities canceled? Is the performance of the concert cycle of Grans Conjunts maintained?

External concerts and activities scheduled until April 30 have been canceled. Activities after this date are still scheduled. In the event that it is not possible to return to the classroom activity during the academic year, the Grans Conjunts will be canceled.

                                                                     

How can I enroll in a master?

You can contact those responsible for each master through the email found on the website of each master. The general offer of ESMUC master's degrees can be found in the master's section of the website.

                                                                 

Where can I find information about scholarships and grants to study at ESMUC?

No, the School has canceled the 2019-2020 summer courses.

                              

                        

Questions about ESMUC services

I want to reactivate the student email. What should I do and who can I contact in case of problems?

If you want to reactivate or have any problem, you can contact the computer service informatica@esmuc.cat.

                         

How does the Library service work while the School is closed? What do I do with the documents on loan?

As a result of the temporary closure, students and teachers cannot physically access the Library.

Regarding the date of return of the documents on loan, if it is after March 12, the return will be postponed until July 1 (any change on this date will be reported on this page and on social networks). This also includes documents from the interlibrary loan.

The requests for books for interlibrary loans that have been started before closing are paralyzed (since the reception of the School is also closed and we are not aware of the policy that each issuing center has adopted regarding shipments).

Requests for physical documents from other libraries that are made from the date of March 13,  will not be met until the center reopens.

Requests for electronic copies of documents from other libraries will be processed.
