Gianni Ginesi

Ginesi, Gianni

Professor of Ethnomusicology, holds degrees in "Art, Music and Drama" by the University of Bologna (Italy), "Ethnomusicology" by the University of Valencia and PhD by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. He joint as a formal member of the research group "Les músiques en les societats contemporànies" (www.musc.cat) at the UAB. He worked on some Mediterranean’s musical traditions and on popular electronic music. His researches focus on the relationships between music and society in a historical perspective and through cultural processes. Also, he studies the development of the Ethnomusicology, in particular the epistemological settings and the ethnographic methodology.  Moreover the publications of some articles in different academic journals, he participates in collective works as the Gran Enciclopèdia de la Música (Enciclopèdia Catalana, 1999-2003), Córrer la sardana. Balls, joves i conflictes (Dalmau Edicions, 2006) and Cançons que cal saber (Pòrtic Edicions, 2010).
