Óscar Candendo Zabala(San Sebastián)

He obtains Titles of Senior Lecturer in the specialties of organ, harpsichord, piano and chamber music. He studies Organ in conservatories of Bayonne and Pau with Bernadette Carrau and Jesús Martín Moro. He continues learning at the Ecole d'Etudes Musicales Superieures de Toulouse with Michel Bouvard and Jan Willem Jansen as permanent teachers and various guest teachers: J. Boyer, L. Lohmann, J. P. Leguay, S. Szathmary and D. Moroney, among others. He completes his training in Barcelona with Montserrat Torrent, and laStaatlicheHochschule für Musik und Stuttgart Darstellende Kunstde with Bernhard Haas.

In 1992 he won the First Prize at the Young Musicians Standing held in Seville. The next year is awarded the Premio Andrés Segovia and J. M. Ruiz Moralesen the XXXVI International University Course Santiago de Compostela.

He is cowriter with Françoise Clastier of a study: French Organs in the Basque Country and Navarre (1850-1925) published by the Society of Basque Studies Eusko Ikaskuntza: Papers Section (Music) 7, 1994.

After obtaining the Diploma of Advanced Studies in History and Science of Music at the University of Valladolid, he is currently working on his doctoral thesis.

He is Professor of Organ at the ESMUC and he is the official organist of the El Buen Pastor and of the CoroEasoen in San Sebastián.

He completes his teaching work with an intense concert activity.
